IMPROVEMENT OF ADSL TRANSMISSION DUE TO REMOVAL OF RESIDENT HUMIDITY IN BACKBONE CABLE NOW MEASURED
30 December 2010
The application of RACT in two Telefónica de Argentina’s backbone cables resulted in the recovery of a high percentage of pairs which were not synchronised, showing that the reduction of resident humidity below 2 g/Kg significantly improves the broad band service.
RACT is currently being applied to Telefónica’s copper network according to the contract celebrated last October.
PRESENTATION
SEC-VAC srl was established in 1987 as a technical development company. Its initial project was aimed at solving the problem of the deterioration of electrical insulation in multipair telephone cables as a result of the presence of water or humidity. The outcome of that project was called the RACT Method.
It was not until 1992 that SEC-VAC was able to start its commercial activities by applying this technique in some contractor companies working with land line operators. Other techniques have been developed along with the implementation of the RACT Method, and today they have become widely tested and commercially successful products.
Together with the developments in the field of communications cables, SEC-VAC carried out an analysis and selection of areas where innovative contribution could be made. These areas included transport and energy efficiency. Some of those projects resulted in new products that are currently available in the market.
SEC-VAC has always selected its research and development areas with a strong commitment towards the protection of the environment and the sustainable use of natural resources, and with the conviction of acting under the principle of sustainability.
SEC-VAC’s activities have always been self-funded, with a policy of strong reinvestment of profits. All the techniques developed and applied to date have been permanently improved where possible according to practice. In this way SEC-VAC’s main asset in each of its products is the “know-how” which constantly increases with their application.
